Shop Tour
is now full and we are no longer
accepting registrations for this tour.
Tour the
locomotive facility and shops of the Providence
& Worcester Railroad. The tour will depart the DCU Center at 9
AM for the short ride to the Worcester shops. Along with the engine
shops there is also a large intermodel yard next to the shops. This
is all part of what used to be the New York New Haven & Hartford
railroads Worcester yard and interchange with the Boston & Maine
railroad.

Buffet & Layout Tour
A
breakfast buffet will be served at the Steaming Tender
Restaurant located in
the historic Palmer Station. The Steaming Tender is not normally open
for breakfast but will be for this event. Palmer station is located at the
diamond where the New England Central railroad crosses the CSX
Railroad. The location is easily accessible from Interstate 90 the
Massachusetts Turnpike using exit 8. If you sign up for this event
we will provide maps and driving instructions in your registration
package. This spot has been designated as one of
New England
’s hot spots for train watching. After breakfast at the Steaming
Tender, tour attendees will have the
opportunity to visit Phil Opielowski’s O Scale Ware River Railroad
and see an accurate scratch built Richardson style O scale
model of the Palmer station on the Ware River Railroad circa 1950's
with a full interior, built from the original plan. Phil models the old B&A Ware River Branch from Palmer
to Barre
Massachusetts. You have
probably read construction articles by Phil in many model railroad magazines over
the years, and you will see many examples of Phil's structures on
the Ware River Railroad. $19.95

Boston
Tour
You
will travel by air conditioned motor coach to Lexington Green where
you will pick up your guide to begin your
morning tour of the Birthplace
of the American Revolution.
The tour will include the Minuteman Statue,
Battle R oad
and the
North
Bridge
, as well as sites that inspired literary greats, Hawthorne,
Thoreau, Longfellow and the Alcott’s.
The tour will also include a visit to the
Minuteman
Visitor
Center
to view the
Film The Road to the
Revolution (pending availability).
Following your tour, guide will take you into
Boston
for lunch on your own at Quincy Market, followed by a tour of
Boston’s Freedom Trail. The
group will visit the USS Constitution, oldest commissioned
ship in the Continental Navy. This
tour is a good prelude to going to
Boston
on your own.
